Healthy Communities Ontario approach
In May 2009 the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion launched an integrated strategy called the Healthy Communities Ontario approach. Healthy Communities Ontario is a multi-risk factor approach addressing healthy eating, physical activity/sport/recreation, tobacco use/exposure, injury prevention, mental health and substance and alcohol misuse.
Building on the strong history of the Ontario Heart Health Program, local Healthy Communities Partnerships will link integrated health promotion planning to implementation at the local level and mobilize their communities towards policy change.
