About Us

Heart Health Resource Centre

The Heart Health Resource Centre (HHRC) is a project of the Ontario Public Health Association (OPHA) and is funded through Ministry of Health Promotion. The HHRC is also a member of the Ontario Health Promotion Resource System (OHPRS).

Mandate

The mandate of the Heart Health Resource Centre (HHRC) is to enhance the capacity of public health agencies and their community partners to implement comprehensive, multi-risk factor, community-based heart health programs.

Our overall goal is to achieve a reduction in mortality and morbidity in Ontario associated with heart health. In the short-term, all support services are aimed at increasing the local and provincial capacity for planning, implementing and evaluation hearth health programs.

Objectives

  • To increase the capacity of Ontario health promotion practitioners/intermediaries such that they can intervene effectively and, in turn, improve the health of Ontarians.
  • To promote the use of Best Practices within OHPRS: TAFHL, their Community Partnerships and other interested individuals.
  • To increase the comprehensiveness, quality and cost-effectiveness of Ontario's heart health program.
  • To reduce morbidity and mortality associated with heart health.
  • To deliver an effective, efficient and coordinated set of services.
